For those of us who prefer to give rather than receive, tinyGive offers the perfect opportunity to do just that. A “micro” donation platform, tinyGive leverages Twitter to simplify the donation process and maximize awareness for organizations and causes. “We know that when giving is made simple and social, more of it happens,” said Clarence Wardell III, a tinyGive founder.
To donate via tinyGive, a registered user simply tweets at their favorite charity with the dollar amount of the donation and the #tinygive hashtag. Donations can range from $1 to $500 per tweet and donors receive an email confirmation on behalf of the organization that they donated to, which also serves as a receipt for tax purposes.
tinyGive and #GivingTuesday
On #GivingTuesday, a national day of giving, beginning at 8 am EST, tinyGive will be offering $12,000 in social matching funds to nonprofit organizations. The first 2,500 unique donors that tweet a contribution of $5 or more to a nonprofit registered on tinyGive will have their contribution matched with a $2 contribution to that organization ($5,000 in total).
In addition, throughout the day, tinyGive will provide the initial donors with an opportunity to allocate another $7,000 in social matching grants to their favorite charities. Nonprofits using tinyGive to fundraise on #GivingTuesday include GiveDirectly, Miriam’s Kitchen, First People’s Worldwide, and the END7 campaign.
Organizations interested in participating in tinyGive’s #GivingTuesday campaign should sign-up at bit.ly/tgorgs or email email@example.com. Donors who want to get a head start to make sure their organization of choice receives matching funds should register at bit.ly/tgdonors.
