Build awareness and mainstream media coverage for Compassion Over Killing’s DC VegFest, the largest plant based festival on the East Coast.
Grassfed Media was brought in to oversee PR and social media strategy for the client’s signature yearly event. This included providing recommendations about the DC VegFest website to make it more media friendly, social media training for key internal staff members, and customized pitches for a wide range of media outlets from local TV to food blogs to traditional print in order to garner as much coverage as possible. In addition, we managed media for a hugely successful media and VIP preview party at Busboys and Poets to showcase the festival’s speakers and vendors.

In 2014, more than 40 TV, radio, print and online media outlets covered the festival including ABC 7, WJLA News Channel 8, Fox 5 Good Morning DC, NBC 4, The Washington Post, the Kojo Nnamdi Show, Washington City Paper, DCist, Eater DC, Brightest Young Things, The Hungry Lobbyist, WBIG Radio, Prince of Petworth, Worldwide Vegetarian, and many more. We also received tremendous coverage for DC Vegfest in 2015 and 2016. Attendance at the event continues to surpass expectations, with more than 15,000 attendees in 2014, 10,000 in 2015 (due to the unfortunate weather) and more than 20,000 in 2016.
