The Wild Animal Sanctuary
Media coverage and awareness building for the country's largest and oldest wild animal sanctuary.
As huge animal lovers and advocates, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the Wild Animal Sanctuary, the oldest and largest accredited sanctuary for large carnivores in the world. Just 30 minutes outside of Denver, the 10,000+ acre sanctuary and refuge is home to more than 500 animals including bears, tigers, lions, wolves, and leopards living in large-acreage natural habitats. These incredible creatures were rescued from illegal or abusive situations like the ones documented in Tiger King. Founder Pat Craig reached out to us to help increase awareness about the Sanctuary’s important work rescuing wild animals, many of which have suffered because of the illegal exotic animal trade.
Grassfed Media was hired during the height of the COVID pandemic, California Wildfires, and the 2020 Presidential election, which presented a host of challenges including an unusually competitive news cycle.
In a short time, we secured several high-profile media hits for the Wild Animal Sanctuary and founder Pat Craig including features in The Saturday Evening Post, Medium/Authority Magazine, and The Talking Animals Podcast. Our strategy was to craft timely, relevant, and emotionally resonate pitches that would capture the attention of editors and producers at large consumer publications. Our pitches centered primarily on the stories of the rescued animals including the 39 tigers who were rescued from “Tiger King” Joe Exotic’s animal park.
